The City of Madison provides recycling service to city residents through Latham Home Sanitation (770-554-0455), who picks up household recycling items. Not only is there no charge for this service, residents who recycle receive a $4 reduction in their garbage pick-up fee.
Recycling service occurs Mondays, so we advise all customers to place recycling bins on the curb on Sunday evenings.
Please Note: Remember to weight paper down with heavier recycling items so your good efforts do not become roadside litter.
As county taxpayers, Madison residents may also use the Transfer Station, 2480 Athens Highway, to recycle hazardous waste.
The Transfer Station opens for hazardous waste disposal: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm and Saturday 8:00 am to noon. For additional information and limitations, see Morgan County Sanitation.
Do not miss out on the opportunities to recycle specialty items.
There are some items that just can not be recycled locally yet. To dispose of these items properly, see garbage service.
